Keenan Carter Received Scholarship

On Wednesday, February 28, 2018, Davidson High School's Keenan Carter was awarded the Danny Goodwin Scholarship from the Mobile County Education Association (Retired Teachers section). Keenan was awarded the $1100 cholarship by Mr. Ken Megginson, former Mobile County School Board member and current member of the Retired Teachers section of MCEA. Keenan has worked hard for Future Business Leaders of America and Davidson High School during the last four years. Congratulations, Keenan!

Murphy HS Students Earn Credential

In the Business, Management, and Administration program at Murphy High School, students get many opportunities to earn adult-level credentials. Students work on Microsoft Office, Certified Guest Services Professional, and credentials through the National Retail Federation Certification. Joseph Washington, Joseph Harrington, and Ocean Bear were the first to receive their certification in Customer Service & Sales this semester. CTE Month is a great time for students and teachers to focus on earning credentials.

6 DECA Winners for Blount High School

On February 21st and 22nd, twelve of Blount's DECA members traveled to Birmingham, Alabama for the State Conference. Six of the twelve students placed in their selected categories!

Two of the those students (DeNae Hamilton and Shanta Williams) won first place receiving a $1,500.00 scholarship and one student (Daisy Hamilton) scored a perfect score in the interview process. The following students placed in the below categories:

Principles of Business Management and Administration - Daisy Ferrell (3rd place)

Food Marketing Series - DeNae Hamilton (1st place and scholarship recipient)

Food Marketing Series - Antonio Miller (3rd place)

Hotel Lodging Management - Amber Young (2nd place)

Hotel Lodging Management - Katelyn Lacy (3rd place)

Retail Merchandising Series - Shanta Williams (1st place and scholarship recipient)


Citronelle HS FBLA Demonstrates "Hire Attire"

In celebration of CTE Month, Citronelle High School FBLA students showed their fellow students how to dress for success. The first ever "Hire Attire" fashion show took place on Tuesday, February 20, 2018. FBLA students demonstrated what to wear and what not to wear for job interviews and when on the job. Students were also given suggestions on how to dress for success on a budget. Great idea Citronelle FBLA!

CTE Month on the Hill

Once again JROTC/NJROTC leads the way and kicks off CTE Month 2018 in a meaningful way. Cadets met with Governor Kay Ivey and Representatives Barbara Drummond and Napoleon Bracy at the annual CTE Day on the Hill in Montgomery. Thanks go to CAPT Tom Daniel and MAJ Daniel Burch for driving the busses…cadets came from Davidson, LeFlore, and Williamson High Schools. Instructors 1SG Bruce Smith and SFC Carlos Richardson also participated!  Great job cadets!
