JROTC Cooperative Education 1st in the State!

   Cadet Sang Tran enjoys his first day on the job! Mobile County Public Schools JROTC program has successfully launched the first group of JROTC Cooperative Education students in conjunction with the City of Mobile’s Fire Department. Ten cadets from various high schools signed up for the work-based learning course. This is the first program of its kind in the State of Alabama! Congratulations to each cadet as they have a very successful learning experience!

Theodore High School Academy Open House Showcases New Dental Science Pathway

On Friday, March 27, 2015 Theodore High School invited local business and industry partners to come out and see what programs are available in Career and Technical Education (CTE) with an Academy Open House showcasing the new Health Science Dental Assisting Pathway and lab.

The CTE Open House was a great opportunity to provide business partners with an in-depth look at all of the Career and Technical Education programs in a variety of different career areas. Business and industry leaders were given a tour of the campus along with the opportunity to visit the CTE labs and view student demonstrations with industry based equipment. They were also given the opportunity to talk with teachers and students about program offerings.


Murphy CTE Teachers Hosts Guest Speaker

On Thursday, March 30, 2015, Murphy BMA teacher Linda Robinson hosted the Commissioner of the Department of Revenue for the State of Alabama, Julie P. Magee. Ms. Magee visited MHS Career Preparedness, Finance, and Co-op students to discuss Mandatory Automobile Liability Insurance and Alabama’s OIVS (On-line Insurance Verification System). Through the cooperation of business and industry, students get the opportunity to gain real-world experiences.

Mobile County Public Schools JROTC program had two cadets to represent the district as State JROTC CTSO officers.The two Cadets from our district are (far left) Cadet Chayse Teague – Baker HS and (second from left) Cadet Tierra Stoute – Davidson HS . They represented the Mobile County School District in superb fashion this entire school year!

MGM Horticulture Students Help Out at Hollinger's Island Elementary

Montgomery High School FFA members participated in an all day Horticulture Service Project to Hollinger’s Island Elementary on Friday, March 27, 2015. The students, along with Horticulture teacher Mr. John Halliday, assisted Mrs. Leisa Boney and the Hollinger’s Island students in cleaning and organizing the greenhouse, building tables/planting benches, and repairing the irrigation system. The FFA members also assisted the elementary students in harvesting the winter vegetables from the raised garden beds and planting a variety of spring and summer vegetables, including tomatoes, peppers, and cucumbers. The students who participated are the following:  Breena Besselaar, Paige Wheatley, Kelly Hughen, Kayleigh Gates, Emily Guidroz, Ethan Craig, Jacob Walker, Russell Williams, Dayemon Kelly, and Mason Hembree.
