Blount High School DECA Winner!

Blount High School DECA attended the DECA State Conference on February 22- 23, 2017. The conference was held in Birmingham, Alabama at the Birmingham-Jefference Convention Center. Twelve students represented Blount High School in the competitive events. Congratulations to DeNae Hamilton for placing 3rd in the Food Marketing Series. DeNae will now compete at the National DECA Convention in Summer 2017.

Murphy HS Induction Ceremony

Murphy High School inducted over 70 Business Management and Administration students into the National Technical Honor Society (NTHS) on February 21, 2017. All Senior inductees will be allowed to wear their cords during their graduation ceremony. Inductees were honored with a ceremony followed by a reception. To be a member of NTHS, students must meet academic requirements (3.0 GPA), be a completer in a Career Tech program, and be a member of a Career Tech Student Organization. Congratulations, seniors!

HVAC-R Students Learn More About the Industry

John Thompson of John Thompson and Associates, Inc. visited the HVAC class at Bryant Career Tech Center. Mr. Thompson is local contractor who visited the class to talk with students about the industry and the different areas and types of job options. He also spoke about the importance of communication and technical skills as related to the industry. Learning about these skills first-hand is a valuable lesson to students.

Bryant Career Tech Health Science Clinical Rotations

Health Science students from Bryant CTC began clinical rotation at Gulf Coast Nursing and Rehab. Clinical rotations give high school students a real-world view of careers in Health Science. This also gives students the opportunity to prepare now for the jobs they will have in the future. It is great to see the past helping the future prepare for CNA and future in health care!

Vigor High School Holds "Chopped" Competition

The 1st Annual VHS Chopped Competition was OUTSTANDING!! All contestands did an amazing job. Congratulations to Mrs. McCollum and her students. The competition was modeled after the Golden Spoon competition sponsored by Golden Corral and Culinard. Students were organized onto teams and were responsible for preparing all of the dishes and desserts as well as presenting them to the judges.
