CTE Month on the Hill

Once again JROTC/NJROTC leads the way and kicks off CTE Month 2018 in a meaningful way. Cadets met with Governor Kay Ivey and Representatives Barbara Drummond and Napoleon Bracy at the annual CTE Day on the Hill in Montgomery. Thanks go to CAPT Tom Daniel and MAJ Daniel Burch for driving the busses…cadets came from Davidson, LeFlore, and Williamson High Schools. Instructors 1SG Bruce Smith and SFC Carlos Richardson also participated!  Great job cadets! 

Blount Entrepreneurship Students Presentations

The Entrepreneurship course is new to Blount HS. This school year, the students were required to develop a presentation on the Microsoft Corporation. They were prepared, they knew their subject, they understood the entrepreneurial traits that helped grow Microsoft, and they were dressed well! They set the bar for the remaining presentations to come. Congratulations on a job well done!

Panther JROTC Wins Big

Murphy HS JROTC cadets participated in the Ocean Springs, MS, drill meet back in November. The Prowling Panthers drill team struck again.... taking first place in Armed Platoon Regulation, female Unarmed Squad, male Unarmed Squad, both Armed and Unarmed Exhibitions, second in female Armed Squad, and third in female Color Guard. Murphy cadets set the bar high and continued to develop their skills as they prepared for the next event in December.

 

Their hard work paid off again in December with an overal placement of third in the West Harrison drill meet. Murphy cadets trophied in 7 of 12 events! Congratulations to the Panther Battalion!

 

Citronelle HS Auto Services Student Participates in State SkillsUSA

Fred Copeland will represent Citronelle High School at the State SkillsUSA competition. Fred is a part of the Automotive Services program. He has learned many skills throughout the school year that will prepare him for a future in the automotive industry.

 

Expanding the Health Care Programs

Local students interested in becoming health care professionals now have more opportunities to learn the basics early, thanks to an expansion of the district’s Career and Technical Education Health Science pathways. The program offers students five different pathways to choose from in the health science field including Therapeutic-Diagnostic and Clinical Services, Biomedical Sciences, Sports Medicine, and Dental Services.
